About ZenOne

ZenOne is the modern ordering and inventory platform for private dental practices. Most practices juggle vendor portals, spreadsheets, and paper. We give them one place to order everything, reorder from best-priced vendors, and keep inventory clean. Over 1,400 practices rely on us today.

The Role

You’ll join a small team, working directly with the founding engineer on a product that is complex both technically and as a business. This is a full-time role, not freelance or outstaff. The product requires deep context and long-term ownership.

You own solutions and problems, not tickets. When you take on a feature, you’re responsible end-to-end: understanding the problem, proposing a solution, building it, testing it, shipping it, and watching it behave in production. Often there’s a title, not a spec. That’s intentional.

How We Work with AI

We expect you to use AI tools well. We also expect you to fully understand and own everything you ship, AI-assisted or not. Generating code is cheap now; judgment, verification, and accountability are what we’re hiring for. If your workflow is prompt-and-paste, this isn’t the role. If you refuse to touch AI tooling on principle, it isn’t either.

Technical Scope

Backend (PHP 8.5 / Laravel 11). Modern Laravel: queues, jobs, events, policies, caching, DTOs, enums, and fully typed code. You’ll design and maintain a complex data model with many related entities, write and optimize non-trivial PostgreSQL queries, and refactor where it matters.

Frontend (Vue 2). Several large SPAs today, with hundreds of components, multi-module state, async flows, and real edge cases.

What We’ll Ask You to Show

Instead of counting years, we want evidence. Be ready to walk us through:

• A complex relational data model you designed and operated in production
• A query or schema performance problem you diagnosed under real load
• A feature you owned from vague idea to shipped and monitored
• A tradeoff you got wrong, and what it cost
• A refactoring you initiated, finished, and are proud of

What This Role Is Not

• Not a junior role with a senior title
• Not a ticket factory
• Not a place to wait for instructions
